Coleraine

Coleraine is a town situated close to the North Coast of Northern Ireland.  It lies on the River Bann, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean about five miles downstream from the town.

 In the 2001 Census (2011's figures aren't available yet) the population of the town was just over 24,000.
Coleraine Borough Council's offices are situated in the town.  The population of the council area was estimated at 57,000 in 2008.

The area controlled by the Borough Council includes the small coastal towns of Portrush and Portstewart, with Garvagh and Kilrea being inland.  The villages of Portballintrae and Castlerock lie on the coast, while Macosquin and Articlave are inland.
