Castle

Move a little to the right of my previous photo and Dunluce Castle comes into view.

It is believed that the first castle at Dunluce was constructed in the 1200's.
The ruins shown here were abandoned around 1690 and are currently in the care of the Northern Ireland Environment Agency.

You have a wonderful spot here. Thanks for pointing out the castle - it blends with the rocks! I hope I may be visiting Northern Ireland next year.

As for the ships in Astoria, Oregon, they are big ocean-going freighters and such. Our river takes big ships, but not the very largest due to the draft and the shifting river bottom. The channel is not quite deep enough. Some that can go into the Panama Canal and harbors such as Seattle and Los Angles don't come up the Columbia - but, they are huge.

Oh my! Now this is somewhere I would love to explore! Or just sit on the ancient stones and ponder life as it was when this was built ...

Beautiful.
