On Sunday I said the outer part of Portrush Harbour was empty. That's not true, because the lifeboat is always there.
The
RNLI have had a lifeboat in
Portrush since 1860.
The boat pictured has only been here for around a year. The last boat - the Katie Hannan - was severely damaged in January 2008 when it was swept onto rocks on the coast of Rathlin Island.

Yes, it's a very striking colour. I suppose it helps keep the lifeboat visible in a storm at sea.
